New S.C.A.M.P.S. Meet-up Coming Soon

I'm about to take the plunge to having a weekly SCAMPS meeting at my home in the desert. My boyfriend just started a new part time job, so I'm waiting to see what days he's going to be working. If his schedule is all over the place, then I'll just pick a day and hope he can work around my life. I was aiming for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then wouldn't you know it, this week he was working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. But he's only training, so who knows what days he'll be in the store or if they'll change it every week. I need to move on with my plans. I can't keep putting everything off because he's underfoot.

I'm figuring on keeping the price super low, say $5. a person, with a dollar extra for each family member per day. If we meet from 2 to 7 PM, that's a dollar per hour. Of course people wouldn't have to stay the whole day. Each hour would be a different theme. It's not a class, it's a gathering. If people want to take a class with me, it will be $20 an hour to learn how to knit, sew, crochet or whatever.

Zakka Fabrics For Small Patchwork Projects

I've been bitten by the Zakka bug. I got this fabric just for Zakka paper piecing. Zakka is a Japanese word for many small objects that make your home feel like a home. The 2 Zakka books I have use muted tones.  Since I never buy muted tones, I had to go shopping for some. I made the fabric clerk work hard cutting 1/4 of a yard of most of these and 1 to 3 yards from some of them.

The Big Move

Well my darlings,
I've left the ugliness of Anaheim and moved to the Mojave Desert. I really want to start a new group out here in Lucerne Valley, CA, but I haven't met any artists out here yet. Apple Valley is 30 miles away and I doubt anyone would want to drive all the way out here. I didn't want to move here and yet here I am. I may start a meet-up group and try to get people interested. What do you think? If I only had a car I could drive to where the people are. Sucks but there it is.
